Over break I was able to read a lot of articles which regarded divorce. I have been looking at celebrity marriages , and why they don't tend to work out a lot of times. A new celebrity couple, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are recently engaged. Miley Cyrus is only 20 years old, and many people is saying that she is too young to get married. Even though her and Liam have been together for a long time, many people wonder if they are truly ready to make this commitment to each other. When I was doing my research, I noticed that many celebrities who get divorced are very successful. Could this be because they are letting their ego get in the way of their happiness? I hope that after reading a few more blogs, I can understand celebrity divorces a little bit more.

Finishing Touches
As I previously mentioned, I was going to research celebrity divorces in the media. I started researching different celebrities, and the outcomes were very interesting. I am trying to research all different celebrities ranging form all ages. I find it very interesting to see the difference between celebrities who have been married fro a number of years and compare their divorce over celebrities who have had only been married for one or two years. Are some celebrity marriages simply to get your name in the tabloids I hope by continuously doing my research all of these questions will be answered.

Divorces Among Celebrities
Over the weekend I started my research! I read a few articles that discussed divorces among celebrities. Everybody is always wondering which Hollywood marriages are for real, and which are a publicity stunt. One of the more recently famous wedding that was in the media is Kim Kardashian's marriage to Kris Humphries. Many wonder if that 72 marriage was simply for Kim to make more money. As we think of the big process of planning a wedding, and all of the money and time spent, how can you call it quits after just 72 days? In an interview, Kim put down that rumors that her former marriage was a publicity stunt. She says, "you have to follow your heart when it comes to love". Another Hollywood recently divorced is Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. It said that Katie was the one who filed for divorce. It was said that she handled it in a very professional manner. The two are divorcing after just six years of marriage. Six years is not a long time to be married. Why is it that celebrities cannot stay in a stable relationship? Why are they more likely to get divorced than others? These are some of the questions I hope to find out as I continue to read articles about the truth behind divorce.

Divorce Case Study
For my survey, I plan on researching different case studies on divorce. I can't really just blatantly go up to people who have been divorced, and asked them about the process because this is a very personal matter for many people, and they like to keep it just between their family. I am going to research it by reading a series of different case studies instead. While I am reading different articles regarding the topic of divorce, I am going to make a tally of different subtopics which include: which age group are most likely to get a divorce (young people, middle aged, elderly), who is more likely to initiate the divorce (the male or female), if a couple with kids are less likely to get a divorce than a couple without kids would be, if people who get married later in life are less likely to get a divorce than people who get married young, and what percentage of teen marriages (teenagers who got married because they had a baby together) are likely to work out.

Strategy for Research
I decided to do a case study for divorces. Divorce has changed so much throughout the years. It used to be something that was a very taboo subject for people. Recently, it has become much more popular in society. For my project, I decided to do a case study on adults who have gotten divorced. I was going to go online and research a few different questions about this topic. I'm interested in seeing peoples' responses to the term "divorce" and how they interpret the meaning of the word.

Quarter 2 Project
For my second quarter project, I thought it would be interesting to talk to a few close friends and family members who have gotten a divorce in the past, and ask them how they feel about divorce. It would be interesting to know what percentage of adults who have been divorced regret their decision, and what percentage couldn't be any happier. If they feel comfortable opening up about it, we could talk about why they decided to get a divorce, and how their life has been since than.

Starting Over
I read an article that discusses the process of spouses starting over after they have been divorced. Data from a recent interview from a national survey of married people, it has been determined that once you get divorced, your probability of getting divorced again increases. Spouses in remarriages are more likely to be poorly integrated with parents and in-laws, and are more willing to leave the marriage. They don't set their standards as high as they did for their first marriage.
